Pixel phones have been extensively considered as some of the best camera smartphones in the market. In Google Photos, Google always provided Pixel users to acquire to keep that extraordinary original picture quality by offering full-resolution photo and video backup.

Google needs to bring back free unlimited Photos storage in original quality, a petition has been already begun on Change.org by Evgeny Rezunenko. At the time of writing this story, the petition goes for 1,506 backers with 1,388 having already signed it.

Moreover, Pixel users who conclude that one of the major reasons for purchasing a Pixel smartphone was the unlimited cloud backup of high quality photos and videos , it was very disappointing to see the new Pixel phones without that amazing feature.

With the absence of this feature in new Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, it significantly means that Pixel users will have to upload photos in “high quality” to the cloud. And this will squeeze and reduce the quality of the original photo or video.

The question, why Google has drop unlimited original quality photo storage is still unclear. The Pixel 4 and Pixel 3a will not come by the free unlimited backup in original quality and that storage for these photos will be added up against their allocation, Google has evidently declared this in a support page.

However, Google provides 15GB of free original storage on their GDrive, after which users will have to purchase a subscription plan to add more storage.

Meantime, Pixel 3 users can carry on with uploading unlimited photos and videos in original quality up to January 31, 2022. Pixel 2 users can get this feature up to January 16, 2021. But the Original Pixel (2016) buyers will come by unlimited free storage at original quality constantly. We will see how that petition turns out and will it change Google mind regarding this decision.
